The white MacBook battery is a 55 watt/hour lithium-polymer module that's rated at up to 6 hours of performance, depending on settings and usage. It's pretty durable but if you need to replace it, it's just a matter of switching out the old for the new. For long life it's advisable to 'condition' your battery every now and then.
