Repairing MacBooks

The Apple MacBook notebook computer is available in a variety of models, the MacBook Air 11, the MacBook Air 13, the classic white MacBook 13, the short-lived aluminum Unibody MacBook 13 and the powerful MacBook Pro range in 13, 15 and 17 inch models.

All the MacBook models are really well designed and engineered and have a well-deserved reputation for ease of use and reliability. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and repairs are necessary. Or a component breaks down and has to be replaced.

If the failure happens during the warranty period then Apple step up and perform the needed repairs, but if your warranty has expired then you must either pay Apple's repair fee (often not small!) or do the repair yourself. That way, with some patience and care, you can save yourself some money.

Repairing a MacBook is not for the faint of heart but it's perfectly possible. Take your time to keep track of all the components. Draw diagrams or take digital snaps at each step of the disassembly so you'll remember where all the parts fit when it's time to put your MacBook together again. Handle all components carefully as tiny parts can be easily misplaced.
