Replacing a MacBook Pro 17" logic board is not for the faint-hearted but it's quite feasible. Take your time and keep track of all the components. Draw diagrams or take digital photos at each step of the disassembly so you'll know where all the pieces fit when it's time to put your MacBook together again. Handle all parts with care as miniaturized components can be very delicate. Don't use metal tools on your MacBook case - special plastic tools are available.
At least you'll have a bit more room than a MacBook Air or a 13" MacBook!
