Repairing MacBooks
The Apple MacBook notebook computer comes in a variety of models, the MacBook Air 11, the MacBook Air 13, the classic white MacBook 13, the short-lived aluminum Unibody MacBook 13 and the sleek MacBook Pro range in 13, 15 and 17 inch models.
All MacBooks are beautifully designed and engineered and have a well-deserved reputation for ease of use and dependability. Unfortunately, accidents will happen and repairs become necessary. Or a mechanical part fails and has to be replaced.
If the failure occurs within the warranty period then Apple step up and perform the necessary repairs, but if your warranty has expired then you can either pay Apple's repair charge (often not cheap!) or do the repair yourself. That way, with some patience and care, you can save yourself some cash.
Repairing a MacBook is not for the faint of heart but it's quite do-able. Take your time to keep track of all the bits and pieces. Draw diagrams or take digital snaps at each step of the take-apart process so you'll remember where all the bits fit when it's time to put your MacBook together again. Handle all components with care as small parts can be very delicate.
